Best practices are organized into 6 content areas. Click on the links below to learn about comprehensive plan goals, objectives, policies, and strategies in each content area. You can also work on incorporating these best practices into other plans (like bicycle and pedestrian plans, park and reacreation plans), zoning laws, and other local policies.

Urban and suburban best practices were adapted from the Healthy Living and Active Design Scorecard for Comprehensive Plans.1 Rural best practices were adapted from the Healthy Rural Community Design Scorecard version 3.1.1.2
